Predictably Unpredictable.. Tactical Withdrawal or.. Strategic Pause!

If a superior is always unpredicatble, the lower order begins to lose interest..and direction...

Eternal Enemies

Yesterday, a friend who is a ‘scrolling champion’ sent me 26 videos emanating from ‘Various Ground Zeros’ of this Middle East Imbroglio.

I asked him whether it was an AI job! He wasn’t sure.

All of those 26 videos, between 12 and 35 seconds barring one, were showing how buildings, both commerical and residential were being targetted to change their face through barrages of fast moving high explosives filled tin-containers.

Of all of them, one I felt bad about most was the one showing the Burj Khalifa, being hit by two projectiles causing some structural damage to its sides.

Why I felt bad is because during my various visits to Dubai, I had the opportunity of having a meal or two in its vicinity.

And, ever more so, because I am a Civil Engineer. How will they repair the damages to it’s elegant elevation which has been altered (if the videos indeed be true) almost irreparably.

Just as we were getting fed up of the aimlessness of this War (should it be called a War, a Battle, a Skirmish…. or plain Madness of WWE/WWF type.. do not know what!), the headlines began to scream that the ‘C-in-C’ had won this round and has called it off for five days..initially. And that his people are in touch with Supreme Leadership of the opponents for... ‘a quick settlement’!.

Settlement!

Whereas the latter denied anything and everything. A statement from them affirmed their commitment of ‘not to stop sending the barrages’..

Has the veritable ‘Honeybadger’ won this round against the ‘Pride of Lions!’. Those who read or watch ‘NatGeo’ will understand how agile, tenacious, wily, and unpredictable this tiny creature honeybadger remains in the Wild!

Lions only fear this fellow, the most. Is that the case in human life as well?!

Predictability, Pause, Withdrawal, and Unredictability

You, as a C-in-C have to be predicatable to your own people. But, here it seems akin to a ‘Real Estate Giant asking his Team of Architects to ‘change the Elevation of the Entire lot of his Mixed-use Project’.

Because he ‘does not like any of them... at all’.

In wars/battles pauses are taken for a variety of reasons. Both tactical... and strategic. For reshape, refit and recoup. And to restrategise.

Fair enough; that.

But here, it seems more out of whims.

Or maybe…

The ‘Main Sledge Hammers’, which the timid world had thought to be invincible fortresses floating on water, have turned out to be pieces of ‘brittle cast iron’ rather than the ‘indestructible specimens of high class stainless steel’ we all were given to understand. One big blow to the ‘workpiece (object)’ kept on the ‘anvil’… and the hammer got splintered into pieces.

New hardware may be called for!

The Two massive Carriers have perhaps suffered that fate! They seem to have slipped into some kind of recoupment phase to nurse the internal wounds and... clear those clogged outlets.

Good object lessons for many other ‘dilettante commanders’ who tend to run everything including the fate of the Universe on their fancies.. and their ‘deeply ingrained devious unpredictability’.

There are many, part of that ilk... running or ruining the fate of their peoples.

Lessons

A Tenacious but focussed smaller adversary can turn the tables on a larger but overconfident opponent.

We, the 08 billion or so poor mortals, may prefer going back to ‘bicycles’. And ‘dry wood collected from the Jungles’.. our ancestors were used to.

And beseech the trigger happy commanders from all sides to leave us to our fate.

The chances seem bright, though.
