It’s Not Easy Writing Articles While Lights Out

Yep, in a country where loadshedding is common, writing articles when the power goes out is tough.

I hate to deal with the heat!

It’s hard to write articles in the summer. Why? Because of the long and unexpected power interruptions, my productivity is disrupted.

Even when you work in the office, you still face an unexpected duration of loadshedding. Despite having a power backup, many writers, including myself, still struggle to cope with their writing productivity. This is also troublesome for freelancers.

When I was working from home in the summers a few years back, I faced uninterrupted loadshedding and struggled to maintain my writing routine. But because I have a power backup, I still managed to write in the heated room. It’s seriously not so easy!

Working At Home in the Hot Weather

I live in the upper portion of the house. The room is hot, even when the ceiling fans are on full speed. When the light goes out, the AC goes out too, as it’s not connected to the UPS. It’s difficult to write in the heated room. I used to work in my dining room. When the power is out, I shift to my bedroom because it's colder.

But honestly speaking! It’s a matter of consistency and productivity. It killed my ideas and my writing process during power outages.

One thing that is clear to me is that when power goes out, I rethink my ideas and continue to write anyway. That’s much better than waiting for the perfect time. Even when I show up tired, don't feel like doing anything, and lack focus, I still write articles and come up with topics to write about next.
