Hey Everybody,
Introduction / Dev Log001
Hey Everybody,
Seeing how this is my first journal entry, I should start with a introduction to myself and to the first project I’m working on, along with my goals and intentions. I’m not overly comfortable about talking about myself — it always feels disingenuous or like I’m low key bragging. So, I figure I’ll stick to what inspires me.
For myself — music, is my biggest source of inspiration. I always try to find that emotional hook in what I’m writing with what I’m listening too. If I’m able to evoke an emotional response from myself, I hope I get the same from whoever is reading it. When I was younger, I listened to a lot of metal (and I still do), but my tastes have grown since then and I’ll listen to just about anything. Again, it’s all about finding that piece of music with hooks.
So, I have any number of projects at any given time that I might be working on. I tend to bounce back and forth on several. Yes, I know — it’s a terrible work flow. The issue is that I’ll need a break from what I’m working and focus up something else as a form of break. The annoying part is when I start building up momentum on the second project and the first project ends up taking a back seat for several months. Again, terrible work habit. I would not recommend it to anyone.
Speaking of projects, I am currently working on a Toxicity rule supplement for TTRGs with a focus mostly on 5e/5.5. It’s a game that I love and I can’t leave well enough alone. So, I have to do my thing and hyper focus on an aspect that I feel is missing from the game. I don’t fully intend to just work on supplements, but I also want to fully develop my world setting. That’s a more long term goal.
I digress…
So, what started as 5 little paragraphs has evolved into 15(ish) pages of rules, a crafting system, materials and alchemical formulas that can be plugged and played into any new or on-going campaign. I wanted to give the consumption of home brewed potions a little more bite. The idea is that these are alchemcial formulas are still in the testing phase and require a great deal of trial and error, unlike (let’s say) a Potion of Healing, which has had years, countless hours, and guild standards to be refined for safe consumption.
The Toxicity rule set will have a focus on the Constitution stat for a lot of the governing of how the PC’s body will handle experimental potions. Should be fun stuff. I’ll go into better detail on the design philosophy for my rule supplement.
Until then, take care and I’ll catch you later.
