Love’s Necessity?

They need not love me as I do, Love alone need not be true.

Once, I have seen your wrathful gaze, Each day need not bring dooms ablaze.

The winds have blown my lamps away, Yet it need not be their play.

With this world, bonds must be spun, Not every breath is worship done.

Friendship with you is dear to me, Yet must I shun the world completely?

You may come to ask how I fare, Even if my lips lie still, unaware.

A beggar finds a thousand doors, Not just yours, not just yours.

Even strife has its delight, Not just love, not just light.

Disdain alone may end the reign, Not all revolt must bleed in vain.

One single verse that lives will do, Not all my words must fame pursue.
