1. Obtain the Reliability Model

The reliability model describes the time-to-failure distribution for the component. This model can be derived from datasheets, fitted from testing samples, or based on field data.

2. Generate Failure Events

Using simulation techniques such as Monte Carlo analysis, failure event timelines can be generated. The intervals between failures are either sampled from the time-to-failure (TTF) distribution or based on pre-determined preventive maintenance intervals.
