  • I completed my courses and finished my degree.

Honours Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, with a minor in Economics.

This journey had its ups and downs. I started as an Economics major, changed to Sociology after struggling with Advanced Econometrics. I unexpectedly had to switch to part-time for a year, and also took time off.

  • I got a gift card and used it to purchase a book I’ve wanted to read for a while.

I previously borrowed this book from the library, but there was always a waitlist. Both times when it became available, I was busy with coursework and assignments.

It’s a book over 500 pages. I knew I wouldn’t get to finish it. So I didn’t read it.

Now, I’ve got a copy of my own. I don’t have to worry about rushing through it or not finishing it.

I can take my time and read at my own pace.

  • More sunny days. More warm days.

In Canada, a sunny day does not necessarily mean warm. The days have been pretty sunny, and the temperature has been creeping up — even though it doesn’t stay up for long.

  • With the warmer weather, I read in the park for the first time this year.

The temperature peaked over 20 °C a few weeks ago, and I spent an hour sitting on a bench in the park reading a book. It felt amazing and I look forward to more of this over spring and summer.

  • Seeing the cherry blossoms in full bloom.

I shared my cherry blossom photos in this post.

And in this **YouTube Short**.

  • Having more time to read for pleasure.

In both **January and [February](https://medium.com/hooked-on-books/my-february-2026-reading-review-6f9162fdfdb9), I read three books. [In March](https://medium.com/@kavitah/what-i-read-in-march-2026-0dac07df78a4)**, I finished only two — one was for my studies.

I was able to read more beginning in the second half of **April**, reading four books. Now, in the first half of May, I have already finished four books.

Reading, for me, is a perfect way to unwind after exams and assignments. Most of the reading I did required deep, critical thinking and often came with an exam or assignment deadline. Now I’m enjoying reading for fun.

  • Having more time to write.

My writing and publishing on this site has been the lowest it’s ever been in the past few months. However, I published every weekday in the final week of April and intended to continue this for the month of May.

Then, the first week of May, landscapers cut the buried cable, and it took them six days to fix it. Although I had access to the internet in other places, I decided to take it slow. Take a break. I did not publish that week.

Now I’m back again. Ready to write more and share more.
