Digital Storytelling in Computer Science
This digital story below serves as a learner-created exemplar for what the final video in their pitch kit will look like for the Project Based Learning (PBL). The intended for future students starting the unit who need a clear example of what a successful final project might look like.
Students were assigned a project to find a real world problem and create a code that solve this issue. Students were allowed to create a code using whatever coding language they wanted. The final deliverable for students was a pitch kit that included a video pitch and a live demo of their code.

I wanted to show students that they don’t have to show a complex, intimidating code to get their points across. This video models how a student can isolate a highly relatable issue that anyone might face — tracking daily chores — and apply fundamental coding concepts like strings, integers, and automated conditional alerts to solve it.
I want to show students that something simple can tell a story about who they are and what they value. This also allows students to frame their pitch around a story that is both personal to them but is also relatable to a larger community.
