Qualitative chemical analysis have been proven useful in many areas of chemistry in regards to finding out if ions, substances or functional groups are shown in a sample.

Methods such as flame tests, colour changes and solubility cheeks helps to allow jobs such as forensic drug detection, environmental pollution monitoring, food safety checks and compound identification.

Qualitative chemical analysis is applied specifically in pharmaceutical industry that makes sure that drugs are pure and spotting unknown compounds and material identification which helps to determine the structure of unknown materials in industrial process.
