2A: a tocca me

It was the songs of Tesoro that summoned the Spirit of the Almighty Creator because the boy worshipped with the entire truth of his existence as one born to serve Umale Okun yet he sang níko mo má mọ̀ gbọ́ Orítsẹ̀ at the altar, where he gave up his life to the Word of the Almighty Creator, with a longing that beckoned the Hosts of heaven and triggered the appearance of the twin Eden cities of Havilah and Nimrod within sight of the four year old.

“Where are you going to, ọmá yi wé? Can’t you just stay in one place,” the exhausted grandfather pulled back the boy as he tried to climb up the stairs that wasn’t really there, sending shock waves across Eden, the heavenly Jerusalem.

“How is this possible?” Prophetess Riri screamed but unintentionally frightened the young seer.

“Jesus is Lord,” John the Beloved muttered beside Riri, also once known as Alero, the possessor of Umale Okun.

“The gifts and callings of the Lord are without repentance,” the Word responded so the Spirit cast a shadow across the seeing eye of the young prophet until the time of his unveiling.

“Papa, I saw heaven,” the surprised young child whispered to his grandfather and the old man believed.

“Tell me everything when we get home. I need to know what you saw but I have to interpret the sermon right now. Promise to be quiet and I will buy you ice cream and chocolates.” The old Evangelist caressed the child born out of wedlock.

“What kind of ice cream? Strawberry or Pistachio?” The impertinent boy reminded the old man of the annoying young man that impregnated his headstrong daughter.

“I will conk your head if you make noise during this sermon. No ice cream for you.” The old man tried another trick to make his favourite grandson behave.

“If you conk me, I will conk you back. You think say hand dey pain me?” The boy repeated what his stubborn mother also once said as a child and the old man tried his best to suppress the laughter erupting from his throat but Ogiame, the Olu of Warri, couldn’t hold back and broke protocol by laughing in public.

“Tesoro, come and sit with me,” the King of Iwereland broke another protocol that his own children never enjoyed in public.

“Will you let me play with your crown?” The insatiable boy reached for the silver crown on the stool in front of His Majesty who graciously placed the crown on the boy but it passed through his small head and gently rested on those tiny shoulders for peace to reign at the Foursquare Gospel Church inside the Olu’s Palace at Ekwedi-Iteskiri in the Kingdom of Warri.

It was the ultimate breach of protocol but the boy soon fell asleep in the arms of the King. And didn’t wake up until after Sunday church service when it was time for lunch at the home of his exhausted grandparents.

“Where’s my ice cream?” The spoilt child screamed and his sick grandmother hurriedly presented the strawberry and pistachio bowl that the Ogiame sent from his palace.

“Where’s my crown?” The drowsy prince recalled his last memory in church when the Ogiame promised to bequeath him the crown if he stayed silent for “only five minutes” before drifting off to sleep.

“After you finish your ice cream, I will take you to GRA to play with Ogiame and his children.” The dying grandmother promised.

“I don’t want to play with anybody. A promise is a promise. Ogiame said he will give me the crown if I stay quiet for five minutes. I did my part. He must honour his words or there will be war in Iwereland,” the young prophet began to weep and his faith was counted as righteousness.

The Warri crisis began the next day and the old grandparents never forgot the first prophecy of their Tesoro.
