A Game That Has Been With Me Through Thick And Thin

This is very out of character for me to write about this on Medium, but I really wanted to share my thoughts on one of my favorite games.

The Legend of Zelda, Breath of the Wild, is one game that has been with me through many of my hardships.

I’ve had it since 2018; I got it for my sixth-grade birthday. Right around this time, I was diagnosed with OCD and really struggled in school and relationships.

I broke down in tears almost every night because I was so stressed about it all.

BOTW (breath of the wild), helped me get through it. It was one of the things I could rely on to make me happy and get a break from OCD.

Currently, I’m on my second load of the game. I finished the first one in just one month! I’ve been on my second one for years because I want to take it slow and finish everything on it.

Now that OCD isn’t an issue for me anymore (thank you, therapy and God!) I still enjoy the game as much as I did in the past.

However, my anxiety started to spike in my freshman year and comes back occasionally to the present day. BOTW is one of the things I go to relax and refresh myself if I find myself in despair.

Something is seriously magical about that game. I would love to just hop right into the game and explore the realm myself. So many people feel extremely connected to the game, including myself, and I can’t help but sometimes wonder if it is all divinely connected. ;)

The sequel to BOTW, Tears of the Kingdom, is coming out in May, and I cannot wait to receive it! I already preordered it and am anxiously trying to finish all of the quests in BOTW to prepare for the new game!

I genuinely recommend this game to anyone who has a Nintendo Switch! You will not regret buying this game whatsoever.
